Need to Get My Butt Moving!
I am a type A personality. It may be hard to tell from my blog, because in the only area of my life where I need to be more type A, I seem to be ultra laid back (or hung up, too easy on myself, or living in a rationalization coma). This area, you may have guessed is my weight!!!!
I have in the past had bursts of intense motivation- personal trainers, gyms, private gyms, urban park workouts, bootcamp, etc. In the last years, alas, (since I met my hubby??) I have been going through the motions of wanting to lose weight. When I got banded, I had big success quickly. I am down 50 + pounds in the last five months, and that is awesome. The truth? It could be 70 pounds if I put in a little more effort.
I am putting it out there folks.
I could be eating less cheese, no chocolate, more yogurt, more salads, less crackers, and could be drinking more water. I could be exercising. I am not. I need to examine why. There are a thousand excuses I could come up with- work, young child, stress, etc. All excuses. I know that exercise helps me with stress. I know that getting to the gym is the hardest part of working out- once I am there, I love it. Why can't I get moving? Am I afraid to lose this weight? What would happen if I were finally successful and in the normal BMI range? What other areas would I have to confront? Scary sh*t, to be sure, but I need to get past this.
As I often say, I will never be younger than I am right now. I need to do this. I need to harness my inner motivation, inner competitive bitch, and get my ass in gear. One thing that may help is that my sister is getting banded tomorrow! She is much smaller than me, and is just at the BMI required, but she is the one who was pursuing this first, and helped me see the light. She also has stress, challenges, and the same baggage with weight that I have. I am hoping that our sharing of this will help motivate both of us, and to be honest, maybe some competition would be helpful!
I love you guys. I really do. What you don't know about me (but may have figured out) is that I retreat when I don't want to deal with something- from my friends, family, reality, etc. I can't do that anymore when it comes to blogging, tracking, and working this tool. It's time.
Thanks for your support. I will be around more.

Feeling Like a Winner!
Yesterday we had a birthday tea party for my mother in law, at her house. We had tea (of course)- both iced and hot, finger sandwiches (which I made- egg salad and tuna salad), pastries, cookies, and fruit. It was very sweet. My daughter loved it, and so did Nanny- which is the most important thing, anyway. We had about ten or so people- my husbands siblings, kids, and his aunt. I got so many compliments on how I look, and it was so nice! My mother in law's house is very sweet, lots of Victorian/shabby chic decorative elements, and in the past, I truly felt like an elephant in a crystal shop- klunking around, heavy footed, moving chairs to get past, etc. Not this time! I actually felt thinner, lighter, and less obviously BIG! It was great! The best part is that I was most recently there for Christmas Eve- not that long ago, and I feel so much different now.
The scale is torturing me, but what else is new. Maybe I am torturing myself?? Hmmmm.....
I am losing a few, gaining one or two, losing a few more, gaining one or two- all in all, it's still a downward progression, it's just not happening fast enough. I know some of you are also experiencing this. It's a physical AND emotional thing for me. I am losing part of me- parts I can't wait to get rid of, by the way, but it's still losing. Maybe we should call successful bandsters winners, and not big losers?
Hmmmm....
I am full of them today! Anyway, very excited to be going to the NYC BANDSTER BRUNCH BABY! Cam't wait to meet all of you fabulous women, and eat with others who understand that eating is just a little (sarcasm intended) when you are banded!
On that note, seem to be pb'ing and sliming regularly. I can't eat most foods without really chewing, chewing, chewing, and I think my bites are too big too. Bread is 90% out for me. Dinner is hard- I am tight at dinner, but lunchtime seems to be okay for me. I eat cheese. Too much cheese, I think, crackers, tea, yogurt, propel, protien shakes, bites of this and that- each day is different. I eat tuna, egg salad, eggs, meatballs.... I am getting enough protien, which is good, and my hair loss seems to be slowing down! I am taking biotin, and I am not sure if it's the biotin, or what, but things seem pretty good on that front too.
I need a vacation! I am dreaming of a Caribbean paradise, but I am not sure how my daughter would do- between the sun and the need to be "doing something", I am not sure it would be quite as relaxing as Mama needs.

Feeling Much Better!
Thanks to all for your concern. I have an appt. with the fames Gaspar on Tuesday, so I am going to mention to it then. I am hoping for a tiny fill- the three days of liquids and two days of soft food will do me a world of good!

Feeling Kinda Blue
Had a rough couple of days...both at work, and personally. It sucks. I really thought I was a good judge of character, but now I am doubting myself. I am not in trouble, per se, it's more that I work with someone- a peer- that is kind of an a-hole. He is totally insecure, and has major issues with women. I feel kind of bad for him in a way, but whatever.
On the band front, I am so close to 50 pounds down, I can almost taste it, but then it comes back up. Get it, band reference, comes back up....get it?
Anywhoo, in a weird mood.
Having some issues with food lately- I may be too tight. I am at 6.2 I think, or maybe less, but since my last fill, eating has been hard. I try to chew, chew, chew and then chew again, but judging from what comes up, it's clearly not enough. I am working on it, but a complication has arisen.
I have been having some pain in my esophogus, or what I imagine to be my esophogus. It's in the lower portion, near my right lower rib cage. It feels like I have sores in my esophogus, and when I eat the food scrapes against them. Of course, I imagine the worst- cancer! Crazy thinking, I know. I hate thinking negatively because I feel like it almost lets the worst in. Make sense?
I am following all of you, and taking great inspiration from you. Catherine looks amazing, Camille is having fun in Vegas, and Kristen is sick of being snowbound, but is spending the time baking with the kids. Kristen, the stuff looks delicious- the bread and the cupcakes especially! I am tempted to send you my address with a prepaid fedex sticker, but alas, I will not. I will keep eating my cheese, pita chips and protien.
Speaking of cheese- the Cracker Barrel Aged Reserve is to die for. Just sayin.
Alas, lovies, I must return to more mundane pursuits, but I send you my love.
